Wine for your holiday?

L'Enclos is home to the gîtes, and is also our home throughout the year. Our knowledge of the area allows us to offer a number of optional services to help you, and one that many of our guests appreciate is that we keep a stock of local wine and can have this available in your gite ready for your arrival.

If you would like to take advantage of this service, please select the wines you would like from the list below, and add them to your booking form or send us a separate email.

With the exception of the 'Cuvee Prestige' red wines, and the dessert wine, these wines are not intended for long-term storage and are typically 1-2 years old. We update this page when the new wines are released in late spring / early summer and the 'year' of each wine will usually change. All this means that if you order a bottle of 2008 chardonnay in October then it might be a bottle of 2009 chardonnay when you arrive! Even if the year of the wine changes, the price will stay the same as it was when you ordered .

We have toured the local vineyards and believe that Chateau Guilhem, offers some of the best wines available in the Malepere region of the Languedoc. The owner has spent several years working with Ernest and Julio Gallo, and applies the latest techniques to his winemaking. Consequently, the ‘Vignobles Guilhem’ wines have a structure which is more new-world than traditional, and are for drinking now, when still young. In contrast, the ‘Chateau Guilhem Cuvee prestige’ red is typically French, has been aged in oak, and is suitable for laying down for up to 10 years in appropriate conditions.

Name Description Year Price per bottle
Red Le Merlot Syrah A blend of Merlot and Syrah, this is a red that will accompany lighter meat dishes as it is not too full bodied or 'tannic'. From the 'Vignobles Guilhem' range, this is a Vin de pays D'Oc. 2009 5.00€
Red Cabernet Sauvignon A pure Cabernet Sauvignon, this is more full-bodied than the merlot / syrah blend but still lighter and less oaky than the Australian cabernets. From the 'Vignobles Guilhem' range, this is a Vin de pays D'Oc. 2010 6.00€
Red Cuvee Prestige A blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, This wine is aged for 8 months in oak casks and has much more complexity making it better suited for darker meats. From the 'Chateau Guilhem' range, This AOC Malepere won a Gold medal at the Concours de Paris (France's premier wine competition) in 2010. 2009 9.00€
White Sauvignon Blanc Made only with the Sauvignon Blanc grape, this is a bright crisp acidic wine with flavours of citrus ideally suited for fish or seafood dishes. From the 'Vignobles Guilhem' range, this is a Vin de pays D'Oc. 2010 6.00€
White Chardonnay This wine is a pure Chardonnay from the 'Vignobles Guilhem' range, less acidic than the Sauvignon Blanc, this wine matches with white meats and is a Vin de pays D'Oc. It won a Bronze medal at the Concours de Paris in 2010. 2010 6.00€
White Viognier The most 'complex' of the three 'single grape whites', this 'Vignobles Guilhem' Vin de pays D'Oc is made from the Viognier grape. It is less acidic than the others making it very pleasant for drinking on its own or with either chicken or fish. This wine won a Gold medal at the concours de Paris in 2010. 2010 7.00€
White Grande Cuvee This wine is an excellent blend of 70% chardonnay with 30% Sauvignon blanc. This gives the wine the brightness and acidity of the sauvignon tempered by the depth of flavour of the chardonnay, which has also been aged in oak for 6 months giving a slight additional complexity. The wine is full of summer fruit flavours - citrus, melon and passion fruit and is perfect for drinking on its own, or with a variety of seafood and white meat dishes. 2010 9.50€
Rosé Le Rosé A fresh rosé made from the Cabernet Sauvignon grape, this has flavours of apple and passionfruit and goes well with pork, salads or on its own. From the 'Vignobles Guilhem' range, this is a Vin de pays D'Oc. 2010 6.00€
Rosé Cuvee Rosé A more elegant rosé, less acidic than 'Le Rose', this has a smoother taste and is made using Cabernet Franc and Merlot grapes. It will accompany the same dishes as Le Rose. From the 'Chateau Guilhem' range, this AOC Malepere won a Gold medal at the Concours de Paris in 2010. 2010 7.00€
