The Tour de France in the Pyrenées

These interactive maps show the nearest stage to us in this years Tour de France on the left.
Stages from previous years are shown on the right - The yellow house shows our location and the stages are coloured lines. The letters in circles show key points on each stage, click the letter for details.

The tour de France usually has two or three Pyrenean mountain stages. To avoid making the pre-COVID map overly complex we have hidden previous years but you can easily see them:

  • Click on the shape just above the top left corner of the map and it will grow to become a much bigger box with text.
  • This will show the last ten stages and list their key points along with their corresponding letters. Sadly, Google limit us to ten stages, so we have to delete earlier years.
  • As you scroll up and down you will see these earlier Pyrénéan stages - to show these stages simply click on the square box to the left of the stage date and the line will appear on the map. You may need to move the map around to see some of these stages as they may be off the edge.

The map will give you an idea of the distance to each stage - it takes about an hour to travel from us to Toulouse.

The only difficulty watching the Tour in the mountains is that it is incredibly popular, and in order to watch the start or finish you will need to be in position very early.

We usually pick a point somewhere along the route, and arrive half an hour or so before the Tour or the 'Tour caravan' is due to pass.

Official details for the next tour

The route for the tour is released each year at the end of October (nine months before the tour actually starts). This early announcement gives the stages with start and finish towns and a few key towns or passes on the route.

The full details are then released the following January six months before the tour gets underway and this is when we add the route to this map.
