How to get here by air
More and more people are finding that with cheap flights
from the budget airlines driving prices down on all European routes,
it can be cheaper and easier to fly to the Pyrenees and the South of France. There are now at least 30 different routes from the UK landing in our area,
and we've summarised those that we know about in the table below.
Clearly, this changes weekly and although we try to keep on top of changes,
it's not always possible!
The majority of our guests fly into Toulouse or Carcassonne as these are the closest to us, but to help your planning, we are:
Direct Flights

Scheduled Connecting FlightsSeveral of our guests have used connecting flights to travel from (say) Edinburgh to Carcassonne
where there is no direct flight. These flights can be arranged with different airlines, but there is
the risk that if the first flight is delayed, there is no requirement for the second airline to hold or
reschedule your ticket.
Conversely, the bigger airlines (BA, Air France etc.) will allow you to book Edinburgh-Toulouse, with
a transfer in Paris, often as low as £45 per person (each-way, excluding fees and taxes). For us,
the big advantage with this is that the flights are scheduled and if the first is delayed, the airline
has a duty of care.
Fly-drive car hire brokers
CompareCarRentals.co.uk
is an online cost comparison website that will enable you to
arrange fly-drive car hire irrespective of which airline or airport you use! The cars are provided by the major operators (Hertz, Alamo, Avis etc), so your contract will actually be with
someone like Hertz - the advantage you have is being able to compare the different rates all on one page. Over the past few years, many of our clients have used this service and all of
the feedback we have had has been good. |
