Limbrassac

We are keen riders with two horses of our own here in Limbrassac (their photos along with those of our donkeys are on our facebook page going back to 2009 when they all joined us here).

Kath is also a committee member of Pamira, the local anglophone riding association. So, we are usually aware of almost anything horse-related that is going on in the area and can easily advise on stables for short or long rides or other horse events.

Limbrassac nestles in the foothills of the Pyrénées and the surrounding countryside is magnificent for riding, cycling or walking. Here are a selection of our local stables and brief details of the facilities they offer.

Local riding stables

Lac de Montbel (10 mins from us) Promenades à cheval - Philippe Labeda, Leran

This centre offers everything from 15 minute pony treks (alongside Lake Montbel) to multiple day mountain tours on horseback. Philippe has a range of good quality horses, and uses English style saddles. This is one of the most active stables in the area, fully accredited and with events going on throughout the year. There are extensive details on their website.

Engravies (10 mins) Ferme de la barre - Claude Zervos

La Barre offer treks and longer rides through the foothills for more experienced riders. Generally trips are an hour or more, and they can provide multi-day tours to the Cathar chateaux on horseback and guided local tours through our nearby countryside but be aware that all new riders have to spend time in the covered school to check their abaility before setting out.

La Barre also has an active horse-ball team and has hosted the regional championship in the past.

Roumengoux (15 mins) Ferme equestra de Soularac - Sylvain Salamero

Sylvain specialises in longer treks often several days duration, trekking long distances through the mountains in the Pyrenees and also abroad. These treks are aimed at older teenagers and adults rather than younger children and allow horse-mad members of a group to indulge their passion while everyone else relaxes in Limbrassac! Customised hacks can often be arranged for small groups of all abilities and more details in english are available on Ferme equestra du Soularac.

Further afield

There are many more stables located further away from us, so if you are seeking a trek in the high Pyrenees, a walk with a llama or a donkey, or anything else you can think of to do with a four-legged companion then we can probably find somewhere appropriate. Just ask us!

Livery - bringing your horse with you

Usually more useful for our off-season long-term guests, we do have fields and stables available for livery if you will be travelling with your own horse. Contact us with details of what you need.
