You are welcome to bring your pets with you on holiday
, provided we know in advance.
The cost for each pet is €25 per stay, and we will advise and help you with the
PETS travel scheme
as we have dogs of our own which travel regularly between France and the UK.
We can also recommend a local vet to administer the treatment
required before you
leave for home. However, please remember it is VERY important to
plan this in advance,
as the regulations insist that your channel crossing leaves between
24 and 48 hours after the treatment has been given.
The up to date regulations on bringing pets to and from Europe are kept on
the
DEFRA
website.
Briefly, this requires that:
Your pet has been fitted with a microchip
Your pet has been vaccinated against rabies
After the rabies vaccination has been given, and time has been allowed
for your pet to form antibodies, a blood test must be taken.
Assuming that the blood test is successful, and the required level of
antibodies are present, then your vet will prepare the necessary
paperwork (usually a document known as a 'pet passport').
At least SIX MONTHS must then pass between :
The date that the successful blood test was taken, and
The date that your pet will be re-entering the UK.
While you are on holiday, we can arrange for your pet to be
treated against ticks and tapeworm and for the necessary documents to
be completed.
This treatment must be completed not less than 24 hours before you
check in for your journey back to the UK, but not more than 48 hours
before you check in.
As the journey back to the North coast of France takes 10-12 hours
we usually recommend that this treatment is applied on the Friday afternoon,
this means that you can board your channel crossing at any time
between Saturday afternoon and Sunday afternoon.
